About Me

I am an educator, editor, and instructional designer, strengthening content, empowering learners, and creating exceptional instructional experiences.

Before I enrolled in my local community college in 2003, I saw degrees as expensive pieces of paper. But influenced by a "boy" I liked, I enrolled, and while taking Composition II, an inspiring instructor reshaped my perspective, sparking my academic journey.

Upon earning my BA (2007) and MA (2010) in English Literature, I taught as an adjunct in Chicagoland. After moving to Florida in 2014, I discovered my passion for instructional design, prompting me to enroll in a second master's program through the University of Colorado Denver. This focus on Instructional Design and Adult Learning enhanced my skills, which only enhanced the career I was already building in higher education. By 2015, I secured a full-time role at Hillsborough Community College, where I earned tenure and taught until August 2023, integrating my interests of teaching, design, curriculum development, and literature.

In 2021, as a freelancer, I expanded my skills to include editing (fiction and nonfiction) and assisting with front-end website design, and though I'm no longer in the classroom, I treasure the opportunity to work with others, refining their writing skills, and to inspire learners to appreciate the value of education.

Since August 2008, I've been happily married to the same "boy" who inspired me to pursue higher education. In July 2016, our family welcomed our daughter, followed by our son in September 2018. My husband and I share a passion for travel, and we bring our kids along for the ride.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, watching movies, and indulging in my love for literature and learning.
